I love the stars. I remember some special moments in Northern Michigan away from the city lights just sitting and marveling at the amazing number of stars and contemplating the vastness of the universe. So many stars you couldn’t begin to count them. The milky way was a vivid strip running from one end of the horizon to the other. You can easily pick out the North Star at the end of the Big Dipper. The Little Dipper and Orion.  You can also see Venus and Mars if your timing was good.

I really miss the stars. There are few areas where I live that you can really see the stars. Some friends will comment, “Wow, look at the stars tonight!” All I can think is that they really haven’t seen stars unless they are up north and far away from the city lights that choke off the incredible display.  I am seriously thinking about taking a trip just to see the stars. The real stars. Am I crazy?

There is a hunger in me to see the wonder of creation. Whether its perfection in a  flower or the gaze of a billion stars, we are bathed in an amazing display that seems to be endless. Go ahead- count the stars! Measure the width of the ocean. Look out at the expanse of this great country. We have so much to see, consider and enjoy. It makes me feel small, but also gives me encouragement. Although I am but a speck on the earth and my time here is but an instant, I have so much more that I need to do. So much more to see. So much more to enjoy. So much more to explore.

Don’t ever loose the ability to wonder and enjoy the vast and endless beauty of this earth.

Maybe its time for a trip to see the stars?
